Sounded even-ish on the radio commentary albeit with us missing some real
good chances. There does seem to have been a big argument for the ref
evening things up when that guy handled it in the second half though. Can
see why Steve is pissed off. Nevemind, still top at xmas and time to take
things out on Yeovil lol
Stats tell the story….possession was slightly in city’s favour and shots
on target favoured Crewe 7-3.
City even down to ten men still went for the win and this was probably
their undoing as Crewe created breakaway chances.
The sending off was justified….two bad fouls, Ikeapeazu was taken off
probably to save him from being sent off….saying that he was a handful
and quite literally his determination to get and keep the ball doesn’t
justify bookings for what is body strength overpowering the opposition.
Was it a fair result both yes and no.
Garrett in goal for Crewe made two point blank saves(doing his job), which
is why City didn’t score.
No matter the opposition Crewe should be trying to win every home game, no
disrespect to City but even though you are top, basically this league is
very open as far as quality all over the pitch goes.
Some teams have a few more players with a touch of class, and in the end
those teams will finish higher and those without.
Crewe’s goal was very well finished from Ness after a quality pass from the
young Cooper, who had not long come on as a substitute.
1-0 and 3 hard earned points keeps Crewe in touch with the other teams at
the bottom.
Been most home games and a few away following Crewe and believe me they
have been transformed from the team in pre-season and the first six or
seven games this season when they looked like a poor pub side.
Crewe will stay up if the improvement continues and I think City will be
very close to promotion automatically, but may find themselves in the play
offs.
Whilst the ref wasn’t brilliant (they rarely are at our level), Cotterill
must have watched a different game to what I did as it was a very even game
despite the early 2nd half red for Williams.
As a Crewe fan this is so frustrating to hear, he needs to accept defeat
even if it was against the odds. Also Ikpeazu was absolutely class the
whole game and they couldn’t handle his strength. I now understand why
their players resorted to trying to get our players sent off by surrounding
the ref every time there was a foul, Cotterill.
