Celtic played their first leg of their Champions League second qualifying round tie against Stjarnan and came out on top with a 2-0 victory. Despite having claimed the victory, there ws an incident which occurred in the game which angered Ronny Deila.
Goals from DedryckBoyata and Stefan Johansen was enough for Celtic emerge as the victorious side but during this Champions League qualifying match, Johansen was arguing with Leigh Griffiths in relation to a penalty kick as both players wanted to take the set-piece.
Griffiths was the man who eventually took the penalty kick but it was fairly disappointing as the set-piece was saved. It made no difference whatsoever as Celtic still won the match but it was something that Ronny Deila was not proud or happy to see as his players were not playing professionally which is how they should have been playing not only in this match but throughout their entire playing careers.
When the match was over, Celtic’s Ronny Deila voiced his disappointment as he said: “It’s very clear who’s going to take that penalty; the guy who took the penalty. Leigh has taken penalties before so that is quite clear. We can’t have it like that, it’s unprofessional.” (more…)
