Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell has given an injury update on two of his defenders who were forced to come off during the friendly win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend. According to the Crewe Alexandra boss, defenders Donervon Daniels and Luke Offord were withdrawn from the Wolves game as a precaution.

Artell is not ready to take a risk with any of his players with the start of the new season just a matter of a few weeks.Offordplayed just the first half of the Wolves game as he didn’t come out for the second half due to tight hamstring. Offord was replaced by the aforementioned Daniels who also succumbed to injury after a little over half an hour. Crewe Alexandra boss Artell resisted the temptation to introduce new signing Tommie Hoban as he didn’t want to risk another central defender. To this effect, Crewe Alexandra had to play the final minutes of the friendly clash against Wolves with ten men.

Crewe Alexandria boss David Artell has revealed that his team would not miss captain George Ray who is suspended for their next two matches.  The centre–back picked up his 10th booking of the season in the stalemate at Cambridge United on Tuesday which has triggered the mandatory two-match suspension.

This means that the rugged defender would miss the home clash against Crawley Town this weekend and the trip to Mansfield Town. Artell speaking after the game was critical of his defender insisting that it was a silly offense that resulted in the yellow card.

Crewe Alexandra’s head manager David Artell recently hinted towards the situation in the club when it comes to transferring of players. The head coach did not show much interest in revealing whether or not the club is being able to recruit new faces. However, he did mention that they do look forward to rope in new players by the end of the month.

It has been realized that after lending out Michael Raynes to Hartlepool United, the Club is falling short of players. Apart from Raynes, the club had sold off Brad Walker to Shrewsbury and had returned players like Kevin O’Connor and Corey Whelan was sent back to their parent clubs. Even Lewis Reilly was given on loan to Curzon Ashton.

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell believes that his side can gain promotion. He said that it will all depend on where they are in the table in February and whether they can put a winning run together. He said that it does not matter whether you are 13th or 14th in the table as you can still catch up the leaders if you mount a serious push.

David Artell believes that he has the player to mount a promotion bid and that it is important for the team to believe that they can achieve something big. He said that Crewe Alexandra has the potential to play in League One and that it is important that the players believe in that objective.
