Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell has given an injury update on two of his defenders who were forced to come off during the friendly win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend. According to the Crewe Alexandra boss, defenders Donervon Daniels and Luke Offord were withdrawn from the Wolves game as a precaution.

Artell is not ready to take a risk with any of his players with the start of the new season just a matter of a few weeks.Offordplayed just the first half of the Wolves game as he didn’t come out for the second half due to tight hamstring. Offord was replaced by the aforementioned Daniels who also succumbed to injury after a little over half an hour. Crewe Alexandra boss Artell resisted the temptation to introduce new signing Tommie Hoban as he didn’t want to risk another central defender. To this effect, Crewe Alexandra had to play the final minutes of the friendly clash against Wolves with ten men.

For Daniels, the defender was also taken off as a precaution just like what was obtainable with fellow defender Offord due to muscle tightness. Daniels is expected to feature in the friendly game between Crewe Alexandra and Stoke City from the English Championship.

Crewe Alexandra did well to record a 1-0 win over Premier League opposition Wolves despite playing the final minutes of the game with a man down. The result was largely overshadowed by the return to action of Wolves striker Raul Jimenez.

Mexican international Jimenez suffered a serious head injury during a clash of heads with Arsenal defender David Luiz in a Premier League encounter in December 2020. He missed the rest of the season due to the head injury. The Wolves striker has been told that he would wear a headguard for the rest of his career.
