Crewe Alexandria boss David Artell has revealed that his team would not miss captain George Ray who is suspended for their next two matches.  The centre–back picked up his 10th booking of the season in the stalemate at Cambridge United on Tuesday which has triggered the mandatory two-match suspension.

This means that the rugged defender would miss the home clash against Crawley Town this weekend and the trip to Mansfield Town. Artell speaking after the game was critical of his defender insisting that it was a silly offense that resulted in the yellow card.

Crewe Alexandra’s head manager David Artell recently hinted towards the situation in the club when it comes to transferring of players. The head coach did not show much interest in revealing whether or not the club is being able to recruit new faces. However, he did mention that they do look forward to rope in new players by the end of the month.

It has been realized that after lending out Michael Raynes to Hartlepool United, the Club is falling short of players. Apart from Raynes, the club had sold off Brad Walker to Shrewsbury and had returned players like Kevin O’Connor and Corey Whelan was sent back to their parent clubs. Even Lewis Reilly was given on loan to Curzon Ashton.

The 17 year old English midfielder of Crewe Alexandra George Cooper is turning heads around with a string of impressive performances that has helped his League One club in securing a few victories but the coach, Steve Davis wants to keep Cooper on a low key and avoid attracting the attention of scouters or other clubs.

George Cooper at the age of 17 has already managed to prove his worth at the big stage as he is a regular performer for Crewe Alexandra in the main team and has even scored sublime free-kick goals with his goal against Coventry City a few days ago being an example of what the young player is capable of doing.

One of the latest league matches of Crewe Alexandra was against Coventry City where George Cooper made his first start at Gresty Road and what a way to make his debut in the home turf of his club as he scored the 2nd goal of his team at the 32nd minute which secured the victory for Crewe Alexandra with a splendid free-kick.

Coventry City never really managed to get back in the game and ultimately lost 2-1.

The manager of Crewe Alexandra, Steve Davis wants to keep George Cooper on the low key and avoid attracting unnecessary attention towards the young player as this can build pressure to the midfielder who only is 17 years old.

“We have to realize how early into his career he is and not spoil him. I’m not going to build him up in the Press to be a superstar, even though I’ve already said he has an influence because he takes our free-kicks and corners.  What George has got to do is concentrate on getting into the team and nothing else, just doing well enough in the week to earn his place on the Saturday, and then perform to the level he’s shown. The rest looks after itself’’

“We can’t control the scouting, and what other clubs see in him, but he’s been talked about for a while now.”  Crewe Alexandra’s Steve Davis told the media.
