Harry Davis has said that one of the reasons for Crewe Alexandra’s poor form at home is the defensive tactics employed by the opposition.

Crewe Alexandra are currently in the 14th place in the table and one of the reasons for their current low position is the home form. The club has only two wins in their last eight matches and it is something that the club is keen to address soon enough. Despite suffering a dip in form at home, Crewe Alexandra still remain in contention for making it into the final play-offs position, which is currently occupied by Oxford United with 41 points about in comparison with Crewe Alexandra’s 33 points.

So far, Crewe Alexandra have taken only 11 points from their previous 11 home games, which translates roughly into just one point per home game. Harry Davis has acknowledged that it is simply not good enough if Crewe Alexandra are to reach their season objective of qualifying for the play-offs position. He, however, has acknowledges that one of the reasons for Crewe Alexandra’s poor performance at home is the way in which the opposition teams play against them at home. Teams visiting Gresty Road often tend to sit back and hit on the counter, which according to Harry Davis is the reason for the poor form of the team at home.

“Teams know we’re a good passing team at home so they look for an early goal and then sit back. It’s hard to break them down when they’ve got players behind the ball. Our starts have been a bit iffy at times and when they do drop off, we can’t seem to find an answer and get that goal,” said the 20 year old defender Harry Davis in an interview given to BBC Radio Stoke.
